Sgt. Pledger was my favorite Sgt. when I worked as a Patrol Officer at Phenix City PD in the 80's. I offer condolences to his family. He has been on my mind for several months. I should have looked him up sooner. He left me with many happy memories of him. He knew I rescued animals so one day I was on a call and another officer pulled up and told me Sarge sent something for me. He opened his trunk and a small dog had been hit by a car. Sarge knew I would take care of it and I did. I took him to my vet and he survived to find a good home. On another occasion he was invited to my Christmas party and offered to bring something. I asked if he could find me some mistletoe. When he came he had an entire brown grocery sack of it. He said he took his shotgun out and shot it out of the trees! What a Sarge! I hope my remembrances bring a smile to those he left behind.

Lieutenant Pledger, Thank you for your service to the USA. I enjoyed and learned so much from you at PCPD. You had the best squad parties "Murray's Punch". Rest in Heaven sir.

I am proud to say I served with Lt Pledger with the Phenix City Police Department. He was an outstanding police officer and a good friend. My fondest memory of him was going to his home with other officers for a cookout. He taught us how to build a bonfire. I showed my grand kids his method. He taught me many other things over the years. He enjoyed teaching. I will never forget him.
