Nelda Palmer Raines, 85, of Phenix City, AL died at her home with her family by her side on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:30PM (EST) on Monday, September 13, 2021 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Karen Seifert officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service the funeral home on Monday.
Mrs. Raines was born June 14, 1936 in Columbia, AL, however she considered herself a native of Cuthbert, GA since her family moved there when she was young. She was a member of Summerville United Methodist Church where she enjoyed worship and fellowship. Mrs. Raines was a loving person who would help anyone in genuine need. She was compassionate and fiercely loyal to her family and friends, however she would share her thoughts on a subject without holding back. Her positive example of hard work, honest words and love of family will continue to influence us and future generations.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William T. Raines, a granddaughter, Jessica Gay and daughter-in-law, Angela Raines.
Survivors include her son, Russell Raines, Phenix City, AL and daughter, Candy Gay, Cottondale, AL; five grandchildren, Victoria Finnegan, Andrew Raines, John Raines, Jami Smith and Steven Gay; nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
