Raymond R. Wright, 84, of Smiths Station, AL died peacefully while at Columbus Hospice House, Columbus, GA on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM (EST) on Monday, April 26, 2021 in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Smiths Station, AL with Rev. Jimmy Boone officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. Burial will follow in County Line Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Buena Vista, GA. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM till 4:00 PM (EST) on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
Mr. Wright was born September 05, 1936 in Marion County, GA son of the late Clifford Wright and Nancy McDaniel Wright. He worked for Reeves Construction as a Demolition Man and attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Raymond was a jokester who loved to pick at everyone and one of his favorite sayings was “Hey Ugly”. He enjoyed Braves Baseball, wrestling and dancing. Raymond never seemed to meet a stranger and made those around him feel at home. We will remember his love of family, humor and passion for life. These fond memories will forever be captured in our hearts.
Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his 1st wife of 42 years, Frances Yvonne Wright; daughter, Linda Gail Henderson; five siblings, Dave Wright, James Wright, Robert Wright, Viola Etheridge, Rosella Parker; two grandchildren, Anthony Scott Wright and Crystal Wright, two great-grandchildren, Michael Francis Huckelba and Aireonna Francis Apiag.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Anastasia “Ann” Williams Wright, Smiths Station, AL; four children, Brenda Joyce Walker, Smiths Station, AL, Bubba Wright (Barbie), Smiths Station, AL, Bryan Wright, Sr. (Cathy), Mauk, GA and Billy Wayne Wright, Columbus, GA; three stepsons, Chris Hudson (Diana), Kevin Hudson (Tara) and Rodney Hudson (Nicole) all of Smiths Station, AL; fifteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
