Richard Wendell Stevens

Richard Wendell Stevens, 72, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Piedmont Regional Medical Center in Columbus, GA with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm EST on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Boyd Cochran, Rev. Sherry Wade, and Rev. Joe Strickland officiating.  Interment with Military Honors will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home in Phenix City.

Mr. Stevens was born January 10, 1947 in Columbus, GA to the late Rev. J. D. Stevens and Eloise Dixon Stevens.  He had worked with Eagle and Phenix Mill and Pratt Whitney for many loyal years and was retired.  He served our country proudly and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.  He enjoyed watching movies, outdoor chores, tinkering with cars, and spending time with all his family.  He was a member of Pierce Chapel Assembly of God Church in Phenix City.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Judy Herring Stevens, one daughter, Shannon Tomlin and husband Mark, two sons, Shawn Stevens, and Shane Stevens; one sister, Latrell Steele and husband John, and one brother, Roswell Stevens and wife Caroline; five grandchildren, Ashley Stevens, Dylan Tomlin, Alexis Stevens, Caroline Stevens, and Cesley Stevens, a very special buddy and life time friend, James Davis (Gloria), numerous extended family members, church family, and many caring friends.
