SSG (Ret) Arthur Rolan Burrows

SSG (Ret) Arthur Rolan Burrows, 93, of Seale, AL died surrounded by his family at his home on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

Graveside Services with U. S. Army Honors will be held at 11:00 AM (EST) on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Rev. Charles Keown officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.

Mr. Burrows was born on August 3, 1930, in Trion, GA. Son of the late Jake Melvin Eugene Burrows and Joe Viola Price Burrows. He had retired from the U. S. Army after 28 years of committed service to our Country. During his service he served in the Vietnam War, receiving the Bronze Star. After serving our country, he enjoyed working at the Columbus Civic Center and local churches to assist with setting up the stages and lights for various events. Mr. Burrows also enjoyed woodworking; a talent discovered later in his life. He also spent hours fishing with family and friends, especially seeking bass and catfish. Mr. Burrows was also a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. He was a patriot, a man of integrity, a loving family man, and a true friend.

Mr. Burrows was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Viola Burrows, brother Robert “RC” Burrows, and a stepdaughter, Linda Joyce Swartz.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Betty Kennedy Burrows; a stepson, James “Jimmy” David Bernier & his wife Paqui; his sister Mary Lynch and sister-in-law Linda Burrows; three step-sisters: Maybelle Cash, Jean Cagle, and Martha Sams; four grandchildren, April Fletcher, Shonda Dugan, Michael Bernier, and Kevin Bernier; several great-grandchildren; several other family members and friends.
