Susan Stewart Owings, 69, of Seale, Alabama, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 14, 2022, while at her residence, with her loving family by her side.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm EST on Thursday, March 17, 2022, in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Highway 431N Phenix City, AL, with Rev. Richie Ashburn officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm at the funeral home.
Susan was born in Phenix City, Alabama, the daughter of the late Henry Claude Stewart, Jr. and Kathleen Huguley Stewart. During her career, she was an Accounting Manager at Mode Transportation. Mrs. Owings was also the Director of Union Preservation Society. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, planting flowers and fruit trees. Susan loved taking care of God’s animals that made their way to her home. She was known for cooking and baking which was often shared with family, friends and neighbors. Her greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother and sister to her loving family. Susan loved telling others about her children and grandchildren. Above all, she cherished the opportunity to tell others about the love of Jesus Christ. Susan prayed for and received many miracles of healing. Her faith never waivered throughout her ten year battle with cancer. Today, she received her reward.
Mrs. Owings was preceded in death by her parents and two sons Phillip Joel Owings and Joseph Pruitt Owings.
Left to cherish her memory is he loving husband of 50 years Bobby Joe Owings; daughter Angela Daugherty and husband Jimmy of Ellerslie, GA; son David Michael Owings of Ellerslie, GA; sister Carol Ann Lee of Smiths Station, AL; brother Henry Claude Stewart, III of Seale, AL; grandsons Owen Daugherty and Ryan Daugherty of Ellerslie, GA, and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Phillip Owings Cancer Fund at Crawford Baptist Church 4503 US 80 Phenix City, AL 36870.
