Vanessa and I were best friends in elementary. We were cheerleaders together at Ladonia elementary. She was always smiling, laughing, and had a way of cheering up anyone and everyone that she found to not be having a really good day. I loved her attitude about life itself. She was a wonderful person and friend. If you knew her you could not jeep but love her and just enjoy the time spent with her. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. May God keep his hands on the family, fill the emptiness they feel with joyful and happy memories of my friend, Vanessa. Mr Linard, my Daddy, Lamar Grayson, would stop to get you for work when Vanessa and I were in school together. Don't know if you remember. You and your wife was always spoke of from Vanessa as wonderful parents. I think she was just a little spoiled, lol, and that's ok. Just showed your love for her. She was a wonder friend to have.
I am so sorry to hear of Vanessa’s passing. We’ve known each other since 1st grade. She was always smiling. Praying for the family.
Adrian, Amy, Mr. & Mrs. Norman, My deepest condolences on the loss of Vanessa. She was a firecracker full of joy who lit up every place where she showed up. And show up she did! If she was there, everybody knew! She had such a fun - crazy fun - spirit about her. Knowing her since our school girl days, I have countless memories of Vanessa and they always include boisterous laughter. I loved her authenticity as she always told the truth and suffered no fools. Of all the fond memories I have, honestly the ones most meaningful to me are from very recent years. She invited me to accompany her a few times on her dedicated and frequent trips to visit local nursing homes. As usual, she LIT UP those places with her friendliness and smile. It was soooo very heartwarming to watch her sweet attention take many sad, lifeless, lonely souls and cause them to light up and gush with smiles. She hugged them, told them how beautiful they were, asked them questions (even the non-verbal patients) (she'd answer for them), took pictures with them, and escorted even strangers to the dining rooms taking the time to actually sit with them while they had lunch. She'd move from table to table sharing her vibrant spirit with all and making sure nobody felt left out. She always thanked the staff for their service as well. Tears well up thinking of just how kind and loving these acts of servant leadership were on her part. I learned a great deal from watching her genuine interactions and seeing her dedication to so many who might otherwise be forgotten. Vanessa was a true ray of sunshine in our often bleak world and she will be greatly missed.
